ACCESS TO SERVICES AND LAWS

Since its inception in 1966, FFQ has been at the forefront of promoting gender equality and defending women’s rights. Our endeavors have spanned various domains, including language rights, public services, and education.

Denouncing discriminatory laws

Throughout the years, we have spoken out against the discriminatory impacts of several laws, notably Bill 21 concerning the secular nature of the State and Bill 96 on the status of French as the common language. Our aim has been to influence the implementation of these laws to ensure the protection of human rights for all women and to secure their access to vital services.

Strategic oversight for gender equality

We have also maintained a vigilant stance on the government’s strategies for gender equality, intervening to safeguard women’s rights and oppose measures that obstruct progress towards equality.

Combatting the privatization of public services

Furthermore, we have staunchly opposed increases in tuition fees and, in collaboration with the Coalition Main Rouge, have resisted all attempts to privatize, monetize, or commercialize public services.
