LABOR, TAXES AND THE ECONOMY

Since 1966, FFQ has remained steadfast in its dedication to promoting gender equality and women’s rights. Leveraging our expertise in the realms of work, taxation, and the economy, we stand firm and engage in significant battles.

Advocating for pay equity

As far back as 1980, we aligned ourselves with the Coalition pour l’équité salariale. Our pivotal role contributed to the enactment of the Pay Equity Act in 1996. Today, our pursuit of pay equity persists. In collaboration with the Conseil d’intervention pour l’accès des femmes au travail (CIAFT), we champion a strategy tailored for non-unionized workers and emphasize the importance of diligent pay equity oversight. Additionally, we endorse the implementation of company audit programs and the promotion of female-dominated professions.

Promoting work-life balance

FFQ is also deeply committed to fostering work-family-study balance. Acknowledging that the bulk of caregiving responsibilities still disproportionately fall upon women, we actively advocate within the Coalition pour la conciliation famille-travail-études for measures ensuring women’s access to well-compensated jobs, with a keen focus on marginalized groups.

Opposing neoliberal and patriarchal policies

Lastly, we take a firm stance on fiscal and economic matters, opposing neoliberal and patriarchal policies. We advocate for a more just and equitable economy for women, recognizing and valuing their indispensable contributions to society.
